He visto la línea que añadiste, configuré nuevamente Alsa, pero sigo sin tener sonido, además hay veces que no puedo cargar las pistas, cuando elijo /media/cdrom o cdrom0 o cdrom1 se abre la ventana en blanco y no hay forma de que funcione xmms.
Descargué Audacious y pasa lo mismo, al igual que con Amarok (este se congela).
He removido XMMS con Synaptic e instalado nuevamente con Aptitude, igualmente sigue sin sonido.
Después también lo removí con Aptitude y descargué el tar.gz
pero Mepis no reconoce el comando ./configure y no pude seguir con la instalación. (Estuve leyendo sobre ./configure, el problema no es de Mepis, el problema fué mi ignorancia. ahora intentaré seguir con la instalación),

Did you ## the line and save, reboot?

You could also try using OSS rather than alsa in xmms. Set it up through xmms preferences.

¿Hizo usted ## la línea y excepto, reinicialización? Usted podría también intentar usar OSS algo que alsa en los MMX. Instálelo con preferencias de los MMX.

Estuve haciendo y deshaciendo tantas cosas que ya mi cabeza no da para mas. Te agradecería que me expiques en cual linea tengo que poner ##.
Sí, también utilicé OSS.

Open terminal
sux
root password
leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel

Add a # to the first line so it looks like this.
#options snd-hda-intel position_fix=2

Intento aceptable esto.
Abra el terminal
sux
root password
leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel
Agregue a # a la primera línea así que parece esto. #options snd-hda-Intel position_fix=2

!!Por fin!! Gracias a tus indicaciones ya puedo escuchar musica con XMMS. Otro problema que se me presento fue al seleccionar el cd, no habia forma de conseguir la lista, al final despues de probar muchas formas encontre la que corresponde en mi ordenador. Resumidamente lo explicare por si alguien la puede necesitar, aclaro que es un poco complicado explicarlo con pocas palabras, por lo que espero que me puedan entender: xmms>Load list>abre la ventana Load play list >/dev/cdrom (en /media/cdrom no funciona) >ok> despues regreso a xmms >play>playlist(otra ventana)>/dev/cdrom>play (en esta ventana) pasa la lista de reproduccion a la ventana de Load list y en xmms, aqui >play y !!funciona!!

Ahora he comprobado lo anterior (no pude comprobarlo antes porque se me congelo xmms, por lo que tenia que reiniciar el ordenador y hubiese perdido todo lo que habia escrito) y abrevie el proceso, que queda asi: xmms>play>aqui (abre la ventana Play files) > /dev/cdrom>play or add > (envia la lista a la ventana Loadlist) y en xmms > play.

Now I have checked previous (I could not verify it before because I froze xmms, so I had to reboot the computer and had lost everything they had written) and shorten the process, which becomes: xmms> play> here (opens Play window files)> / dev / cdrom> play or add> (sends the list to the window Loadlist) and xmms> play.

Eriefisher, en mi anterior respuesta escribi los ultimos pasos que di para solucionar el problema con xmms. Tengo que agregar lo que ustedes me aconsejaron? No lo hice para no hacer un post muy largo y , ademas, por el problema del idioma. Que tengo que hacer?
