wireless woes

Postby bobbio on Mon Oct 15, 2007 10:24 pm

I have a Encore Elec. enlwi-g2 wireless pci card; has rtl8185 chip. It's
supposed to be usable with Linux. It causes system freeze during
kernel load whether I try cd or hard drive boot. Any ideas or fixes
would be appreciated. :?:

Welcome bobbio.

I have no idea why this is happening. Do you get to the grub menu?
If you do, maybe try the small options choice.

You could also post on MepisLovers to try and get more help. maybe someone there will be able to help.

re wireless woes

The computer freezes shortly after the warning about the rtl 1880
drivers being experimental. I tried the latest version of "Puppy"
today which also has 1880-1885 drivers. It got to the desktop but
froze during net config..
I understand that Level-1 with it's Atheros chip wnc0300 tries hard
to be Linux compatible; think I'll give them a try.

thank you
