I think I have to say M11, then 16
I think M11 was simple, and it is what I used when you thought me the basics of these things.
Now 16 is a bit more complicated to get into, if you want to change stuff, imo. But all the new tools are very nice, so I like it because of that.

(I wonder if my real favourite was the 12.5, or was it 13.5? the mini-jwm version)

Version 7 and 7.2 is what got me started and would run on anything I threw at it. Even got my addon pcmcia wireless working. So that is my fav of them all.

I nursed 11 for years till I finally borked it. It was my motorcycle shop media center for years.

15 32 bit has been my procrastination install as dist-upgrade keeps me current with 16 stuff and kernels 4.10.1 pae on my gobs of ram gear.

I just started playing with 17. I guess I just skipped by 16. My fav is the one that works at the present time on my assorted scattered hardware. I have not booted up the Panasonic Cf-48 or Amrel RT 786 tough books in ages. No need since they are linux friendly, and my IBM T23 is the new release debugger with it's savage graphics with P3 non sse2 cpu. Has a gig of ram though.

13, 15 16 as they do just what I want to do easily.
17, so far has been a good teacher!

Version 13 "Luddite" on 2 July 2013

We did a lot of work on long-standing matters. It had good dependability as we made good use of the Stable repo. It continued the enduring aims of antiX by being a natural extension of the previous releases.

Subsequently, the former clarity of purpose seems to occupy a lower rank of importance. The sharpness of focus that assisted antiX to prominence, no longer seems quite as sharp.

I started with Luddite, whilst pedalling Linux with stabilisers.
16 and 16.1 and the transparent development, were really interesting to watch and try and learn from afar. Many thanks to all the contributors to make this journey enjoyable, no matter how small my steps are.

I liked many of the earlier versions. However, 13 was excellent. It was based on Debian stable which made it more reliable and easier to maintain. If you used the standard Debian kernel you also got automatic security updates for the kernel which made it more practical for some users. Plus since it was based on stable you could use Synaptic in place of apt-get for upgrades if you wanted to.

I am surprised their is no love shown for 8.5.

I liked that version a lot also and had fun running it off of sd card on my eeepc.

16 is a great release series.

13.2 is legendary in my mind. tight and fast. still runs better on my netbook than the later releases, although I have 15 on the netbook right now. getting ready to upgrade that thing to 16.1.

Obviously, I have tried them all and love them all!

I suppose there are some milestones in the releases.

8.5 is one of my favourites since it was a culmination of all the previous versions at that time - more slicker, less 'amateur'.

I agree that 13 was also another milestone in antiX development. More stable, less 'geeky' and more user friendly than previous versions (perhaps).

antiX-16 (which built on what was started in antiX-15 and will be continued in antiX-17) marked another turning point.
We added and stabilised a whole load of new features that did not exist in previous versions, or in the case of antiX-13, developed much further - i.e. our live/frugal/persistence features.

So, my favourite?

Probably a tie between antiX-13 series and antiX-16 series.

Well, that is a difficult one for me, I actually used Mepis-Lite, still have a cd somewhere, then started with Spartacus, Lysistrata which I used for a good while, then 8.5 a really good version use for long time, then to 11 then 13 now 16. So 8.5 13,16 are my favorites.

I think I joined you from #! when it was no longer to be supported at 11 or 12 - but 13 (especially the base version) made me stay here & not look any further at other distros.

Probably 13.2 base was best, but I've upgraded with each release, as I don't have any computers dependent on any one release.

Edit: Just to say that I always keep a live pendrive handy with AntiX on it.

8.5 was my first AntiX, I liked it a lot, but 13.2 was rock solid, and I used it as my #1 boot system till 15. I'm running 16 now and like it the best, and a lot of that is that all the tiny tweaks I made for the others starting at 13.2 have easy ported now to 16.

So much of that was made possible by the people here. Other distros don't come close in that regard.

I just got my new Anti-Linux machine (Dell Inspiron 15 7559) to run on 17. I call it an Anti-Linux machine because it just hasn't wanted to run on any linux, so that bodes well for 17's future...

I started trying to find a distro that would work with older pre-2004 computers. After trying several other distros, I found AntiX 12 and 13. Really started using antix 13 regularly and continued going through 16.

Love AntiX 13.2 and 16. I've been using 13 on older systems and 16 on systems that worked with windoze 7. And can't wait until 17 comes out in the mainstream.
