Hey guys.

I just thought I would mention that I've been making some new-user oriented videos at http://www.youtube.com/runwiththedolphin. They are pretty basic right now as I'm still getting the knack of video editing and screen casting.

I will take suggestions for items for future videos, particularly those aimed at new users.

Thanks.

D.O.

After a couple of months of posting videos, I have the following data.

The most watched video is the installation video, now with over 1100 views (heading towards 1200).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kCotJWcoiE

Interestingly, the second most watched video is configuring your wifi connection, with over 400 views.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8WO8NaM2tM

Third is customizing the icewm desktop at almost 300 views.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnTwZtHst3E

Browsing network shares with Spacefm climbed rapidly to almost 125 views.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQl-md0YAhQ

I'm currently getting between 80 and 100 hits per day, on most days.

Thanks to everyone who has linked my videos and subscribed. I appreciate it, and I'm glad at least some folks are finding them helpful. also please note that I have not enabled ads on my videos, and I have no plans to do so.

Thanks, you are doing a great service.
I would encourage you to, yes, enable ads embedded into the youtube pages.
Regardless whether you do or not, other people are likely to "blog about" the vids -- remotely embedding them (along with THEIR ads) into blog pages, etc.

Do your analytics report the O/S (user-agent string) of viewers?
If so, I'm curious to hear "who's tuning in"

I can get a break down by device.

about 93% watch on a computer (about 51% windows, 45% linux, 4% Mac). the rest watch on a variety of phones and tablets, except 1 person who watched on an xbox.

Wow, that many windows users exploring alternatives, searching for an exit...

I still dual boot to XP and am feeling "pinched".
-- Browser devs refuse to (attempt to) support WebGL on XP
-- PHP5.5 will not run on XP localhost
-- locked out of many recent game titles which require DirectX10
-- (I don't use MSIE but so many user still do, and) jquery 2.0 has dropped MISE 6/7/8 quirks compatibility
XP end-of-life is finally beginning to feel "imminent" and (but) Windows8 is NOT an acceptable option.

I feel your pain. even though it takes like 10 minutes to boot, winxp runs on my netbook really well and supports all its hardware, but its going away. Luckily, the latest antix runs on it very well, though I tend to prefer fluxbox to icewm because of the former's window size and position remembering capabilities. Makes life easier on a netbook when every dang dialog box runs off the bottom of the 1024x600 pixel screen.

Alt+ Left Click is my friend on my Netbooks as well as the tab key sometimes.

Yep, but it is pretty annoying the first few days after an install, and you have to resize everything you open

Nice job with the videos! I had not previously viewed them. Even antiX veterans like me learned a thing or two about the changes in the most recent release that I had not been following (or researched), so that was helpful to me, and I'm definitely not a newbie here; I've been using antiX since the very beginning!

Do you ever work with antiX Base or antiX Core? I've not looked through all of your videos, so I don't know if you've done this yet or not, but a video showing how to put together your own custom system would be really cool. I've written an antiX Core HOWTO in the past, but it's pretty dated now since I wrote it from the first antiX Core prototype, and I have not had much time to do a rewrite or an update. I have had at least two friends use it as the basis of building their own custom system and though they found changes in the specifics, they did find it useful enough to help them out, but a video with an example would be even more cool!
