eriefisher, the issue with smxi asking again to kill x should now be fixed. It no longer puts you into init 3, just kills the display manager/X. The colors is a bug on your end, I can't tell you where or why your tty is killing color, but you might want to look into it.

iamclueless, all installed services get turned on when their packages are upgraded, that's default behavior in debian dist-upgrade. Be careful with turning stuff off, only turn off something if you know what it is and that you don't need it.

The desktop popler bug is fixed and shouldn't be an issue any longer.

If you have sid repos, you can install flash, otherwise you need something like debian-multimedia, I will make smxi test if packages are available and offer smarter selections, flash component is already done but I just have to implement it.

splashy shouldn't get removed unless it's a module, that regex is pretty specific, if something gets removed that shouldn't be removed, that's a bug, with remove modules, although the bluetooth and splashy remover in package remover of course should remove them.

mozilla tweaks set a bunch of prefs.js stuff, and let you not use that gtk file hander thing, in favor of a standard two column file manager.

kernel remover is a simple file, but I think I know what you mean, I'm going to fix that problem, you only see it on non sidux systems, that can definitely be cleaned up.

For the adventuresome, you can start smxi with -K option, that will give you, when available, a testing/experimental kernel install option in advanced kernel install. Currently that supports 2.6.26 latest testing kernel from sidux. Not all modules are building on that kernel, so be warned. nvidia also only works for the 2 legacy drivers, not the standard one, on 2.6.26.

remove modules detects all currently installed modules on your system, the deb packages, and removes them. Failure to do this is a bug.

Oh, I also set up, on irc.oftc.net #smxi but only post a question or bug or output etc if you see an h2 or h2-gw in the userlist. I'm only tracking that about 1/2 of every day.

been using the smxi script now to install some packages, do the upgrade thing and the maintenance thing

now looking to start messing with kernels. and adding kernels? generally which kernel is best for old clunky machines??

interested in the module removal. i saw long list of xorg video card looking modules... and other modules

is there a resource someone can point me to that tells me what each module does or which ones i actually need or may need?? im working with laptops here. so theres will be no major hardware changes in the future.
