Here is my first attempt at a screencast uploaded to you tube.

This is to give you a hint of what is coming in the bootloader side of antiX-13. Lots of options and multi-lingual. (though we do need help with translations)

The videos are a good idea.

I can't offer any meaningful advice as I don't get involved in this type of work. Both videos are completly unreadable on the systems I tried. They are too small make anything out. I also tried downloading converting to mp4 and viewing the file directly, but still too small and indistinct.

Perhaps in due time some audio or subtitles might help get the message across.

Thanks for the tip.

I tried all the available resolutions. Unfortunately none of them produced a readable result on the YouTube site.

Just a thought on the first screencast. The "F1 the help system" option that shows you how to use the help menus is second in the main menu. This to me seems counter productive. As easy as it may seem to relate that the down arrow is to be pressed to move down in the menu, by far it would seem safer in the unknown to simply press enter on the first option. At least if I was looking in the help menus to retrieve information, I would not want to guess the first couple of points in the "F1 the help system" option to get the help. On the flip side maybe move the up and down arrow and enter to select points to the main screen.

Sorry to pick on such a small thing,
Dave

Yes. Full screen at 760p gives the best result, but it still very small and indistinct. Also, I think this combination may place the highest load on old machines and give a choppy result on some of them.

As I mentioned above this is not really my field. My uneducated guess is that reducing the resolution of the source material/system may give better results. I'm guessing that it will make the content uploaded to YouTube larger. End users will still have the local tools to control screen resolution and screen size at their disposal with which they may make further adjustments.

The videos are still too small when viewed at small size. When viewed at full size there is a big improvement. The clarity allows the content to be easily viewed and read.

There is an issue when viewing at full size. The entire content (as seen on the source screen) cannot be displayed here. An example screen-shot is attached to illustrate the point. It shows the total amount of the source screen that can be seen in Iceweasel on the local system.

Just speculation; does screencast.com display the resolution used when creating the source content? If so, might there be a case for using a compromise resolution at source that suits both modern and old hardware?
