Power management in a Dell CPi laptop

Postby the_axis on Mon Oct 26, 2009 4:51 am

Having trouble with the backlight on my laptop display. It never shuts down no matter how long the system is idle but the screen saver does come on (you can still tell the backlight is still glowing). Also if you close the screen the machine does go into a suspend mode and the backlight shuts off however when you open it back up some time later the system appears to fire back up but the backlight never comes back on.

Is there a place with setting for this? Any ideas how I can correct it?

Other than this problem I'm really liking this OS on my machine, I'm very happy with it.

Here are some threads from the Ubuntu forums that may give you some clue:

I also read in a thread
I also recall reading somewhere that for laptops, a setting in the BIOS will handover power-saving mode to the OS. Maybe you should check you BIOS to see if such a setting exists.

I use a desktop and have noted that when the screensaver is activated the green light in the monitor doesn't turn yellow. So it may be the screensaver app settings.
