First, let me thank you for creating antiX - I love it already (only just installed on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300).

I get this error when attempting to enter my wpa passphrase:



The SSID and passphrase are correct.

Any ideas?

I remember seeing a WPA-related service in the list -- maybe use (forget exactly what it is called, don't have my antiX-computer at work today) sysvconfig (or something like that) and see if that service is selected?

Did for me. It is an error box that says Failed to generate encryption key. Please check the SSID and passphrase values.

I have to ask:

Does your router support WPA or is it an older model with only WEP?

My router and wireless card do support WPA and work fine with Ubuntu, XP, Puppy and Mepis 6.0.

I'm wondering if the error is occurring because my wpa key contains the characters (){}[] - is that likely to cause the error:

ine 0: syntax error near unexpected token '`)'

If so, is there any work around ? I cannot easily change the key, as the same key is used at a number of my friends' houses (so that any of our machines will work anywhere).

Edit: I should also note that WPA works fine if I manually configure it, and I am posting from the laptop.

Still having issues with this. I have written a script to associate my wifi card with the router and do dhcp, and that works, but I'm wondering if I can simply edit Network Assistant's files and hand-enter my wpa key. Does anyone know where that is ?

When you enter your passphrase, you must enclose the passphrase in quotes, otherwise you will get the failed to generate passkey error:

example:
"mysecretpassphrase"

Glad that you got it working, antiX is a great distro, and the people on this forum and Mepis really make the difference. There is always someone willing to help.
