For the moment, in testing, yes.
We'll see for the final.

Looking forward to giving it a "fresh spin". I am downloading it now and I will test it and test it at my earliest opportunity!

Took my first look at it inside VirtualBox--looks great. Nice going.

Will test there and post--did notice that it looks like using the menu to switch back to fluxbox from icewm doesn't work. Anybody else see that?

I booted mine live and I am going to replace one of my other instances of an earlier version on a test box.

1.control center is still named control centre in fluxbox menu
2.the icewm back to fluxbox dosne't work here either
3.the unrar beeing seen as unrar-free is the same and xarchive dosen't read rar files
4. the home folder icon i see is the icon rox-svg(the book) not from black-white icons.
5.in change slim background: after i change the background, in home/user i get a shortcut "background" and in it is the slim background i choose and a shortcut to "wallpapers" that opens /home/user/background/wallpaper/wallpaper for ever.
6.after install when it reboots and exit the cd i got a lot or errors for some files i don't know the text of the error.

it's too late to see other things i hope there are none. using antix 100%

edit:love the grub background and the pppoeconf shortcut and everything Smile)

Thanks for the feedback ice-m. gald you like the grub changes and the pppoeconfig. (does it work ok?)

1. A feature not an error. Fluxbox config side by a Brit so centre, icewm by a N.American (Canadian) hence center.
2. Thanks (and to Jerry). Line 81 in icewm menu, replace prog with restart.
3. Do you think I should install the non-free version?
4. Not sure how that got there (in icewm only, yeah? In fluxbox it is ok). I'll look into it.
5. I noticed that too. Maybe we don't need the Background link.
6. Can you post the errors so we can debug? Thanks.

Post your impressions, comments, bugs.
I want antiX-M7.5 to be the best yet, if possible.

1. i didn't know that
3.the unrar beeing seen as unrar-free is the same and xarchive dosen't read rar files
3. Do you think I should install the non-free version?
soo sorry about the mistake i wrote it wrong it's "unrar-nonfree" my post from:
http://antix.freeforums.org/xarchive-and-roxfiller-questions-t884.html?highlight=unrar

why does xarchive dosen't read my rar files?
i see that xarchive has the rar wrappers but when the program start it tells me that:
/urs/share/xarchive/wrappers/rar.wrap.sh
Extensions **Needed program not found, ignored **
same message for: 7za,ace,arj
i need the rar to work for the torrent i download. the torrents are one main rar and r01 r02 r03 and so on. don't know if that matters

here is danboid post from:
http://antix.freeforums.org/ideas-for-next-release-t890.html?highlight=unrar

"unrar IS included in 7.2, as you say, but I thought otherwise because Xarchive failed to open my rar files. When I went to the terminal I discovered why - its because unrar is called 'unrar-nonfree' under antix but xarchive is looking for unrar. "
that was what was trying to say. Razz very sleepy
4. i mean the home icon for the "/home" folder.
6. i'll try to reinstall antix again can u help me with a command to save the logs or were i can find a log file of the error?if not i'll use paper and pencil Smile

6. Should be in var/log/boot.log
4. Yeah I got that in icewm, but not when using fluxbox.
3. the unrar-free is more limited than the unfree version, but it does seem to work by default with xarchive. The unrar included in antiX does work well, but from the cli. I think I can include both.

Got it installed. Running right now live, so I have not actually RUN the updated installed version, but the Live one looks nice - really like the new IceWM task bar icons for one thing!

Will let you know more impressions tomorrow when I get a better opportunity to work with it.

I have started to work with the installed version. Fixing it up with my smxi setup of choice. So far all looks well.

6. couldn't reproduce the error on 2 installs
4. i got it in icewm and fluxbox
3. last night after synaptic updated unrar-nonfree now it works in xarchive so no problem there Smile

new things:
on every install of antix the mixer volume it's set to zero so lots of people will think that the sound dosen't work.
after i changed the wallpaper. i'm in slim login with this background then i enter the user and password i see my wallpaper then the slim background again then my wallpaper. this is slowing down fluxbox start compared with 7.5 test1 and its irritating.

Icon problem in icewm:
It sounds like you're referring to the icon in the taskbar? Strange, no problems here. My icon is a blue folder with a white home. I'll send anti my ~/.icewm/toolbar file and we'll straighten it out.

icewm to fluxbox:
I thought it was working fine here. I copied my menu entry from the 7.2 iso icewm menu to be sure. I'll do some more tests and try and nail it down.

Background and wallpaper folder links:
I had to write the slim background script using a symlink. It was the only way to get the script to open a file browser in the user's wallpaper folder, get root's password, and test that a new image was chosen. I can try deleting the symlink after the new wallpaper has been set. This should be the solution.

Thanks for finding some errors. I'll get to it in a day or two.

john
