Hello. I tried to install the nvidia driver: I enabled the mepis repos and then used the mepis module to install it. Unfortunately, I could not log in. So I loaded the 7.2 livecd and used the "copy current xorg.conf" option. When I tried to reboot, I got an error - /etc/X11/X not executable. Any ideas? Thanks.

| I'd try dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and see what happens. Or use smxi to install a new xorg or nvidia driver.

I never had good luck with the mepis x module to install nvidia. I always downloaded the driver direct from nvidia and installed it myself. Now the smxi script should take care of it. _________________ eriefisher

For direct driver install, you can use sgfxi, the smxi graphics driver script engine.
Type in: sgfxi -h
If something happens, it's installed. See the options.
If not, as root, do: cd /usr/local/bin; wget techpatterns.com/smxi.zip;unzip smxi.zip; sgfxi
