I tried Geany and it is pretty good. I did decide to try the improved project support plug-in, so I installed GTK2-dev so I could compile the plug-in.

Since GTK2-dev and its dependances are so large, I thought I asked if anyone, here, would be interested in any of the extra plug-ins. If so, I'll compile what people ask for and put them somewhere, possibly Geocities (unless someone suggests a better place), for people to download.
