Hi,
I just installed Antix and tried to run Libre Office Base, but it crashed because of what seems to be a dependency problem with Java Runtime.
However i installed Java with Synaptic and Base still doesn't work. Anyone ran into this issue before?

i dont use the java runtime, i have no related problem with libreoffice or openoffice-- it does complain that it wants the runtime, but doesnt seem to need it.

however the problem youre having still exists-- i do not believe it is related. any other details you can tell us?

edit: i dont use base, so maybe it is java. i still dont think it is. have you tried removing libreoffice and installing it from the document foundation website?

I didn't try to reinstall Libre office, but I did try it on another distro and also in Windows and got similar complains with base. All others LO apps work fine. Someone says it might be a kernel issue on 32 bits, but if that was the case it shouldn't happen in Windows.

did you notice the workaround in that link you posted? it should be fixed in a later kernel, but until that happens you can change the setting for the stack guard (which lowers security a little) to fix the problem.

they also recommend changing it back when the kernel is updated. details in your link-- nice find, this is an interesting one.

32-bit: After adding "stack_guard_gap=1" to boot parameters, it works for me.

Could you post where you got that information from, thanks.

Also Calligra has a nice database app which does not require Java, for those for whom security is an issue.
