Hello all,

1st post here on the forum and new to Antix 15.1 so here I am.
I have desktop computer from 2004.

emachines T3092.
Processor is an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton 2167 MHz / 333 FSB Processor.
2.0 GB DDR Ram.
Nvidia GeForce FX5200 / 128MB / 8X AGP Graphics card.
Seagate 120 GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive.

Anyway instead of tossing this desktop I decided to find a Linux distro that would work on it and I believe that Antix is it.

I have been a Linux user since 2014 Ubuntu 14.04 / 16.04 / Linux Mint 17.1 / Puppy (tahrpup6.0) and a few others that I have played with.
I'm looking forward to learning about Antix.
See ya around the forums as I will have some questions.

The PoorGuy

Howdy and Welcome.I use a Emachine 3507 in my motorcycle shop as a media center. AntiX is all that runs on it. :)

Hey rokytnji,

Yep I will say I'm pretty impressed with this distro. I tried several distros and they ran great. I opened a browser and slow slow slow.
All I plan on doing is web surfing as the processor is only SSE instruction and isn't supported by youtube. I'm happy that I found a distro that has a browser that works on this old box.

antiX can help you with Youtube.

Using a web browser is not the only way to watch Youtube videos. antiX ships with Streamlight which is designed to let you watch and/or download from Youtube. It does not need a web browser, although it will work with one if you want it to.

These will help get you started.

antiX information about help videos: Main Menu-->Help-->antiX-->antiX Video

Before trying it out, just make sure you are using the current version of Streamlight from the antiX repo. Update and upgrade will bring your system up to date by installing all the upgrades for the shipped apps. Do it using either Synaptic or apt-get.

You are probably in for some pleasant surprises with antiX.

Hey All,

Is there a way to return the panel to default icons that were there after install.
Been looking through the different desktops and now it seems that some of the default icons are missing.
I don't even know what all was there but I do know that it has changed.

Thanks.

@poorguy
In the antiX forum it is usual to start a new topic for each new question. It makes is easier to keep the topic on track, helps members be clear what is being dealt with, and makes it much simpler for anyone else with a similar problem to find the topic.

When you booted the USB or CD-ROM to install, if you used the default desktop, it carries across to the disk as ROX-IceWM. Have a look in Desktop-->Other Desktops. Select it and it will put you back to the shipped default.
