Hello guys, thanks for the AntiX system. I know very little about Linux and resurrecting old machines - - I burned a lot of CDs getting here but it was worth it!

I probably should add some details to make my post more interesting :-)

Thin Client Wyse V10L - 512MB (upgraded from 128MB), external hard drive

Had to do everything from boot CDs as Wyse does not support USB Boot drives.

Running the bog standard AntiX installation, completely out-of-the-box. Runs very nicely

Had no luck with the puppies, lubuntu, dsl, peppermit, zorin, bodhi, etc. No fault of the distributions, user lack of knowledge probably. I did get Tinycore to work nicely but I could never figure out how to install it on the hard drive.

I should mention that I replaced the stock 128mb ram with 512mb and inserted a 40gb laptop drive (which is sandwiched between the heat sink and the case.)

For such a small "low power" device, it runs pretty warm - in fact almost too hot to touch

Wow. A via box from hell running openchrome easily. I'm impressed.

install lm-sensors

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install lm-sensors

and say yes to everything. Then when done. In terminal type in sensors

Code:
sensors

To see what temperatures are shown.

My graphics card can be the hottest running at 76C so maybe that area is what is too hot to touch maybe.

Welcome and Howdy! The one great thing about AntiX is it plays friendly with the majority of older systems, reviving them from a Microsoft death.

hello guys, here's the info!

via_cputemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +58.0 C
cpu0_vid: +0.844 V

yeah maybe not so hot after all. I think that hard drive stuffed on top of the heatsink wasn't my smartest idea but anyway.

hope it doesnt catch on fire :D
