I'm starting this thread so as to not prolong or divert an existing one.

Thanks to DJiNN I have the wbar source, however, it won't install. I have tried make, make install and make, checkinstall and both fail with:

cannot copy ./iconpack to /usr/share/wbar/iconpack file does not exist

or something there about.

I assume the source DJiNN sent me was complete so I ask those who have tried what they did to install it?

Thank you. I did not see a .deb when I was looking for wbar.

Nice one anti, i couldn't find a deb file either. This will certainly make it somewhat easier to install i hope. :)

eriefisher - re: installing the source, i had a hard time also, and i found that, for some strange reason i had to create all the directories myself. It's not the first time i've had to do that either.... the other day i was compiling a few programs (can't remember which now) and i had to create all the dirs for those as well, otherwise it just threw up errors everytime.

I'd like to think it was a problem with the code, but it's more than likely something that i'm doing wrong somewhere. :)

Now i'm going to grab that deb (thanks anti) and install and see what happens. Hmmmm, maybe i should "uninstall" the version that i have in there first (as i can't get it to work anyway)

I've never had a package complain about a directory before, they usually create what's needed. The deb will make things a little easier though.

Up and running. Now I just have to put icons for actually installed apps.

Looks pretty nice.
wbar is very easy to configure and looks pretty good.

Personally, I still prefer an icon-free desktop.

That looks great eriefisher, glad to see that you've got it working. Unfortunately mine just doesn't want to run. For some reason it can't find the font and i've tried several things, even moving locations of files etc, but all to no avail!! :)

But i'll get there..... i'm tenacious! LOL!

Do you actually have the font installed?

eriefisher - i've finally got wbar working, and i have got the font installed, although the path in the wbar config pointed to the wrong place. Having said that, the text still isn't working when wbar runs, but i'll get it sorted eventually.

I've just been scouring the net on a search for some different icons to use, and there are quite a few good ones out there.

Now i've just got to decide if i want to keep on using LXpanel, fbpanel (Which is great because it can autohide) or wbar. I'd like to use them all but the desktop is starting to get a bit cluttered. :)

Let us know what icons you find. I have a small collection myself.
