Hello anticapitalista,

excellent work thank you , actually I like the antiX-M7.2-preview2 even better than the preview 1!

1) gxine looks fine to me, but what about VLC Media Player?
2) catfish; something like catfish is very usefull. Another suggestion could be "pfind" : http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=15136
3) Include the rox apps in the home/demo/rox folder? Yes
4) wallpaper/login screen: Is quite dark, but ok.
5) fluxbox style, conky style. Is ok, maybe just one or two style alternatives for the two would be desireable.
6) Anything else? Altough there is fusesmb ( http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-213481.html ) or SMBnetfs ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/smbnetfs ) maybe a solution like "pnethood" • "samba share mounts" => http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=23464 would be very handy.

Actually I was looking for puppy linux a bit closer since I needed a lightweight distro for my alix1c board. But so far I've seen now, I'll stay with antiX :D since it is Debian and Mepis based as my other computer.

Regards and thanks: Gritibaenz

Outstanding, anti. Of course, we've all come to expect nothing less from you. Thanks. I really like the default wallpaper -- there's a simple elegance about it. Glad to see you kept wicd, leafpad and gqview. Also glad to see the return to an iconless desktop. I look forward to getting "under the hood" as time permits. Thanks again.

I've found a bug!

If you want to implement the rox-desktop (as it was it preview1), this is what you need to do.

1. Edit the ./fluxbox/startup file. Simply remove the ### at rox -pinboard part.

2. Logout/login and you should get the rox-desktop.

BUT this is where the bug is.

You get the rox-desktop, but without the icons!
You need to set them up again or do the following.

1. Make a folder called .icons in /usr/share/
2. Copy ROX-SVG folder from home/username/.icons to /usr/share/.icons
3. Make sure that all the folders in /user/share/.icons are Read and Exec to all users ie user/group and world. Do this through rox-filer properties.
4. Logout/login and icons should be set.

This is already fixed for final!

When the next release goes final, will the various base .iso's get updated as well? I am toying with the idea of trying my luck at remastering one of them. Thanks.

Once antiX-M7.2 goes final, antiX-base will be available and upgraded too.

Nice. I'm kinda thinking of using the fb base and

1. openbox, openbox menu, openbox config, nitrogen (wallpaper), pcmanfm, wbar (kinda like engage), pypanel (or maybe lxpanel), etc
2. exaile (if shoutcast works, otherwise bmpx), gdvdshrink, gnormalize, gxine, mplayer, etc
3. ooo writer and spreadsheat, what's that firefox calendar program?, etc
4. Most of the other antix apps

just a few changes to take advantage of more robust machines while still trying to keep things light.

John, that sounds like a great combination. :)

If you'd like some help in any way then i'd be glad to assist in whatever way i can, even if it's only testing it out. I like Openbox as much as i like Fluxbox and the only thing (so far) that's stopped me using Openbox so much is finding the time to get my head around the menu scripting.

I use obmenu to make changes or even menumaker. Then I study the actual file. But yes, some collaboration would be fantastic. I am running simply mepis on some more robust machines but soon I'll have a desktop that would love to have antix installed on it.

Where are you getting wbar from. I have tried to download it from several locations and all I get is an empty text file named wbar-1.3.3.tbz2??
