Ok, anti, now that you've included a screen shot of antix w/ lxde, my professional (read as "inquisitive, philosophical, eager to learn, tend to break working installations while experimenting") interest has risen to the bait.

I read up some on lxde today (didn't learn much but had only limited time) but once on 'my own time' noticed that it isn't quickly available via Synaptic.

1. Is it safe to assume that out-of-the-box antiX doesn't have it?
2. If not, what does it offer me beyond default flux installation?
3. If (not #1) then will it be an option in RC-x?

BTW, have no concerns with working from source code if that is the best way to add it. After all, I started this Linux experience as a Slackware junkie.

Ya just couldn't leave an old sailor contented with his nicely-working system, could you? Wink

1. Safe to assume. lxde is not out-of -the-box
2. You get a full desktop environment (all be it a slim one) rather than just a windows manager
3. No it won't be an option as antiX already comes with a desktop option through rox-filer. http://antix.mepis.com/index.php/Howto_articles#Rox_tips_and_tricks

I tried out lxde just to see what it is like, but I don't really like it. I prefer to use a simple wm like fluxbox, or occassionally, if I want icons on the screen or panel, I use rox-dektop option.

Here is a thread from Mepis Lovers about lxde.

I used the debs from the lxde site.

Have fun messing around with antiX. There is lot there to discover Wink
