Here's another use for the "quick launch" button idea that I got from running the latest goblinx today: have a button for iceweasel. When you click on it, you could choose between homepage, antix home page, antix forums, mepis homepage, mepis forums, etc. Since these are the sites I almost always hit first, it makes sense for someone like me to create a button like this on my taskbar.

Another idea is for your filer: The button could have options for /home, /media, /mnt, or even /root. The possibilities are endless. It just depends on how you use your computer and what icons you like to have on your taskbar.

I remember reading at least one post that suggested I use a darker menu for the korstro theme. So here's one version with a dark menu. I hope you like it.

And here's the file. When you unpack it, I suggest using pcmanfm and right-clicking on the file. Then choose the "extract to" option and extract it to ~/.icewm/themes (create the folder if it doesn't exist). This will keep the symlinks intact.

i want to thank you again for the theme mod. i use it as my default icewm theme. i find the new "start bar" easy to read and see the highlight on it. when i choose the theme the background changes to blue, i think is because i deleted the wallpapers in /usr/share/wallpaper. could you check if it works on your computer? this it's no problem for me because i have the wallpaper in ~/Wallpaper. great work.

I'm a culprit to. PCMan File icon sure is dark on taskbar for these fatigued eyes but I like it!

Hello. Unfortunately, it seems freshmeat has lost the vast majority of their window manager themes. I found a small collection of some of my favorite icewm themes on a pen drive. If you're interested, here are about 13 from freshmeat: 2 murrina themes, a couple that look like xfce themes, 2 amiga themes, a clearlooks theme that has a deeper blue than the one at box-look, an industrial theme, a pair that look similar to vista, an orange and black theme, a couple of old-school looking themes, and something unique. Unzip to any directory. Then unpack each theme to ~/.icewm/themes. Warning: if you don't unpack the themes to ~/.icewm/themes, then the symlinks will break and the themes won't render properly.

@ice-m
Try adding this to bottom of ~/.icewm/themes/KorstroDark/default.theme

Code: Select all
DesktopBackgroundColor = ""

Hello. Found what looks like a directory with a lot of the themes that were available at freshmeat. I'm trying to find as many of those as possible and this link was quite helpful. Enjoy.

Hey, cowboy. If you want to change the pcmanfm folder icon, do this:

1. Find the image you want to use.
2. Copy it to the KorstroDark theme folder:
cp /path/folder_icon.ext ~/.icewm/themes/KorstroDark/icons/folder_16x16.xpm
3. Restart icewm using the "start" menu.

You should now see the icon of your choice. Of course you may want to back up the folder icon first. I think this switch will do it for you, but I'm only 95% sure:
cp -b /path/folder_icon.ext ~/.icewm/themes/KorstroDark/icons/folder_16x16.xpm

I took your advice to heart and did just one thing a little extra. This is now my version/take on your Kostro Dark Theme.

Here is my modified Kostro Dark OU812. This is my first attempt as a rookie to modify a theme with guesswork and your suggestion. Thanks Man.

Because I had to rename file as .zip. If you download it rename as k.bz2 and extract twice. It will extract file and work.

Nice. The folder icon really pops in your version. And a little "glassy" too; it fits well.

Hello all. Well I finally came back. Been out trying various distros. Decided to get back to "the good stuff". Mepis/Antix is a rockin' system. Decided to strip a Mepis system down and install Icewm and Fluxbox. Now it is a matter of setting up my preferences and font settings so I bookmarked this page....Very informative.
Have a question...Fluxbox can be made so the "bar" will disappear. Can the same be done with Icewm?? Thanks all. Have a good weekend! :)
