Newbie, live CD won't boot

Postby rmoench on Mon Aug 10, 2009 2:55 am

Trying to get Antix on my 2000 Compaq with AMD K6 processor (512k Ram). Won't boot, reports wrong kernal for processor. No nothing about Linux. What to do?

Thanks,
Monch

antiX uses a 686 kernel so K5/K6 will not boot.

Puppy Linux http://puppylinux.org/ is easy and should work.

Thanks for the tip on Puppy. It did boot on the AMD K6. Now if I can figure out how to edit the script for logging in to my ISP. I'm doomed to dialup.

Er...maybe that should be discussed in the Puppy forum :)
But seriously, are you using DSL. If so, Puppy's pppoe configuration tool is a bit tricky to work.
If it is so I may find the post where it is explained (I had dsl before I routed my modem, as I said it was a bit tricky to connect at first, but after it's connected there ain't no more problems).
