First. This is after a dist-upgrade on AntiX 8.5 this morning. sux seems broke a little. su seems ok. I read a bug report at aptosid about it.
Code:
[email protected]:~$ sux
Password:
bash: cannot set terminal process group (-1): Inappropriate ioctl for device
bash: no job control in this shell
[email protected]:/home/harry# rox
[email protected]:/home/harry# exit
exit
[email protected]:~$ su

I purged mpd and I'll show you why.

I think my mistake was not using the package maintainers version of rc.d when asked.
I just used the default and hit the enter/return key instead of typing "Y".

I'm not to concerned with the sux issue. But I am stumped on how to purge rc.d, (in case I need to, to use the package maintainers version to fix mpd), and reinstall. so maybe I can fix dist-upgrade without removing mpd. Kinda lost here. :?

Shoot. I oughta just uninstall 8.5 and go with testing maybe. Got a lot of stuff to backup first though. This is a longtime install on this IBM T23 Laptop.

Is mpd purged?

If it is, remove the mpd script in /etc/init.d and alll related to mpd in /var/lib/dpkg/info

Try with the multimedia repos commented out. (I don't use it at there are too many conflicts)

apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade (or just upgrade).

You might need a reboot before apt-get.

I presusme everything else is working ok.

Thanks Bro, Will be moving on to doing that and update thread later.

Edit update: apt-get remove --purge seems to have handled deleting the mpd script in /etc/intit.d and all mpd releated text files in /var/lib/dpkg/info also, (or I am just tired and can't see em)

Will go with this for now. I will wait to see if anything else breaks later I guess. Maybe this old beater needs a AntiX 12 upgrade to run better. I have fluxbox only with special tint2 setup with special conky and Wallpapers, Music, Movies, /boot/grub/menu.lst, rox automount usb script, like I said. Tons of stuff to back up before a reinstall.

If I were you, don't use the multimedia repo once you have the apps you need from there.

You might be able to get mpd to work again.
