There are minor issues in antiX-M7.5

1. In fluxbox menu, files opens nothing.
Simply install pcmanfm or remove entry from fluxbox menu.

2. mplayer is on hold to version in Etch as upgrading it doeasn't show the skin UNLESS you are using nvidia drivers (don't know about ATI). So, if you have nvidia drivers installed it should be ok to upgrade mplayer.

3. udev error at boot. This doesn't affect the running of antiX or the kernel. If you are keepng the default MEPIS kernel, you could edit
/etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules/
comment out line 50
KERNEL=="rtc0", SYMLINK+="rtc"

If you plan to upgrade the kernel, then the boot message should go away.

nothing is set in "set run action" to open zip files. if you want to open zip files when click on them put this in "set run action": xarchive "$@"

The newly uploaded antiX-M7.5 iso fixes the pcmanfm and zip file bugs.
I also fixed the repeat in the FAQ.

I installed AntiX 7.5 on mu PackardBell EasyNote Athlon 2000+: all went fine so far. The good MEPIS installer and a vEry nice GUI from the energetic anticapitalistica.
And the final test: CrossOver + OfficeXP. Don't tell me I don't need it. That's not the point. The point is that it installed as it should, and then...?! Nothing, as if it had disappeared. Nothing in the menu. That was the end in my testing frame of 32 bits OS's.
No harm done, Puppy 4 doesn't like WINE either.

The laptop is running Mint4 now, the best flavour on this machine

Did you try adding it to the fluxbox menu or running it from a terminal?

CrossOver/WINE installs itself, I don' t know of any possibility to add something to the menu. Not that I care, it works fine on GNOME and KDE, so I exspected and presumed that one way or another, it would become clear where to find the products I installed.
It' s a problem with XFCE too, I like it very much but dislike it' s dislike for WINE.

AntiC, I very much appreciate your work to save the oldies (pc' s I mean), I' m really fully behind you, don' t take my criticism too harshly. Once this little problem is solved, I will sing a song about antiX and publish it where I can...

fluxbox dosen't add items to it's menu by it self you have to add by hand: right click > settings > control centre > desktop > edit fluxbox settings > menu then add a new line where you want to be in the menu :
[exec] (name you want shown in menu) {program name like in terminal}
for example:
[exec] (Firefox 3) {firefox}
if crossover has a gui you add:
[exec] (Crossover) {crossover}

edit: i forgot about this because it's a new feature in antiX 7.5 you could: right click > All Apps and Crossover should be there

I you want to attract newbies with oldies to antiecs (;-)) then the above is the magic formula to scare them away.

This is not a fault of Antix. It is how Fluxbox works. It works the same way regardless of the OS. It is one of the "features" that keep it light weight.

1. If you want something that will automatically create menu entries, the closest thing I know of is menumaker. Each time you install an app, just run menumaker to update the menu. The drawback is that you lose your customizations.

2. Another option would be to run fbpanel or lxpanel. Both panels generate their menus by looking in /usr/share/applications. So if an app has an entry, it will show up in the start menu. Otherwise, you'll need to create your own. Fortunately, most apps have entries there.

3. I think we still have this issue that was reported by ice-m in 7.2 (or perhaps a 7.5 test release)

All, maybe I've been away from the mepis network center too long but it's giving me fits.

I am running base. I am trying to setup my wireless connection. It's seen as eth1. I go into wireless and enter my essid and wep key. I then go into the interfaces and choose DHCP for eth1. Seems no matter what I do clicking apply, it always goes back to static ip.

I was able to setup my wireless using the tool that's in the full antix but I really want to use base.

Can anyone give me some hints?

I don't use wireless, but I think you need to click Apply on each tab you make changes too.
What app did you use to get it to work in antiX-M7.5?

Anti, I think I did the apply in all areas but the darn ip always goes back to static. Guess someone else needs to say whether this is the case or that I'm crazy.

I used the other tool on the full antix. I think it's wicd or wcid? That worked without issue.

You could install wicd on the base and see if it works. If it does and you don't need it anymore then remove it, and/or mepis-network.
