Installing Crystal 4237B audio driver

Postby Vronsky on Mon Oct 29, 2007 10:46 pm

Fella's,
My P2 Dell Latitude notebook needs a Crystal 4237B driver to activate sound. AntiX doesn't recognize this soundcard (neither do many other distro's btw)....:(

Could somebody please explain -or provide me a pointer- how I can add this driver and make the sound work ??
I've got the appropriate Windows 2K driver available, if this can be of any use...

THANKS,
V.

Vronsky,

I saw your post and Kano's reply on the Kanotix forum.

If you are still around, try these steps.

1. Open a terminal, sux and give your root password.
2. Type in rox
3. Navigate to /etc/modules file
4. Right-click on file>Set Run Action>Type leafpad in the box. (make sure you leave a space between the 'd' and the " >Use Command
5. Now left-click on the file and copy/paste the snd info.

Thanks, instructions worked great, but no success: still no sound.
Your distro looks really terrific, but apparently not for sound on my stupid Dell. Perhaps I should just dump the thing, and get a decent one.

Anyway,
cheers,
V

Shame it didn't work.

Maybe post on the MepisLovers forum. There are lots of people who may be able to help.
