How long has your antiX been up?

Postby xToeCutter on Fri Jan 18, 2008 4:20 am

Excluding a neighborhood power failure, my antiX base w/Gnome/KDE has been up since I set it alive. Purring like a kitten on hot catnip. How long has yours been up?

I use it to surf the net, listen to music, and watch DVDs while I game on my XP machine.

Its been up for 6 days 2hrs (that when my power went out) and its as responsive as the day I installed it. Amazing.

My 1999 craptop had been up for 20+ days when the clock started getting out of sync (about a few mins on the hour) - i had to sync with ntpdate every now and again.

I didn't dwell on it that much as I'm gathering this laptop was never made with the intention of running as a server... On the 7th day now and only 18secs out of sync

Code: Select all
21 Jan 09:24:52 ntpdate[20165]: step time server 85.196.2.102 offset 18.458524 sec

Running irssi (24/7 or until my ISP decides its time for a new IP :/ ), a soldat server, apache2 and centericq, rtorrent.

antiX-M7-beta3 upgraded through sid repos was up for 15 days with no problems.
I rebooted because I wanted to test and install antiX-base.

I usually keep irssi (chat), htop, bash (for apt-get), mpd/ncmpc (audio), rtorrent, links2 (internet) and snownews (rss) all running in screen. In this way I can logout, allow someone else to login and do what they want and those apps are still running in screen.

uhh... about 20 minutes. What? It's on a laptop.

Try running screen in screen. For example, you are on your desktop working on some things in screen then ssh into your server and reattach screen that is running.
