Here is the full Message on my apt-get dist-upgrade today.

(gtk-update-icon-cache-3.0:9970): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Cannot open pixbuf loader module file '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache': No such file or directory

This likely means that your installation is broken.
Try running the command
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache
to make things work again for the time being.

Here is a screeny of what everything looks like now

Image

I could try a install of 13.2 and just backup everything to the other drive but I figured I'd post this in case it happens to others.
I searched around for the error and no good hits on it. My linux foo is weak today I guess.

Also, I don't know what they want me to do with

Code:
Try running the command
  gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache

I tried

Code:
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache

in root terminal but got the no command found which means I don't understand what they are telling me.

So. I guess this thread may help later if there is a fix for this.

I ran apt-get clean to clear the cache and then ran

Code:
[email protected]:~$ sux
Password:
bash: cannot set terminal process group (-1): Inappropriate ioctl for device
bash: no job control in this shell
[email protected]:/home/harry# apt-get udate && apt-get dist-upgrade

In case you are wondering if I got any dist-upgrade errors other than what I posted and show.
I am kinda lost in the desert on this one guys. 8)

By the looks of it with your error and that error about inappropriate ioctl. It seems to me like a few sectors of the drive died corrupting the install. If it makes it through a reboot then I would try reinstalling the gtk package related to that if it doesn't fix itself. As it looks like some parts of the loading sequence has corrupted as well.

It may even be that the drive is full and cannot load so apt-get clean and look at your disk condition with smartctrl and your disk usage with du / df before the reboot.

Reboot is fine and dandy.

It's been a bug in sux for some time I think. So I don't think it is my drive. But ya never know I guess.

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=659878

So I'll wait and see I guess. No hurry yet this morning.

I have had this several times before, Nothing very bad happens, it just can't find the icons.
I don't think I bothered to fix it, as I reinstall too often.

it isn't one of those gtk2/gtk3 crashes, maybe?

I don't know rc. More info while I poke around.

Code:
debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Gnome
debconf: (Couldn't recognize the image file format for file '/usr/share/pixmaps/debian-logo.png' at /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/FrontEnd/Gnome.pm line 132, <> line 1.)
debconf: falling back to frontend: Dialog
Selecting previously unselected package lxappearance-dbg.
(Reading database ... 169758 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack .../lxappearance-dbg_0.5.5-1_i386.deb ...
Unpacking lxappearance-dbg (0.5.5-1) ...
Setting up lxappearance-dbg (0.5.5-1) ...

I am wondering now about /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/FrontEnd/Gnome.pm line 132, <> line 1.) is maybe the culprit.

Shot and missed. No change on reboot. So changed them back.

I don't know, but maybe try to remove the icon theme 13.1, and install the 12.1, and somehow make it stay there?
