Hello everyone.
I'd been thinking of putting some old parts together to have another PC in the house for the family to browse with. I thought of DSL but when I heard of antiX I thought I'd give it a try.
I finally got around to resurrecting an old PIII 550 with 384mb of sdram and just installed antix-m7.01 on it tonight. Works like a charm.

Hi Xeroid, welcome to the wonderful world of antiX.
Great to hear that it's working well on your old PIII..... antiX is really great at reviving older equipment, and making it fly!

Welcome to antiX, Xeroid.
Have fun with it, and I like the cool screenshot you posted on the USALUG forum. _________________ Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

I may have to resurrect my AMD 400. My oldest active one is now the Dell Dimension 4100, coming in at just under 1 GHz. I've been enjoying AntiX most running Live with my Dell Latitude D600, where it handles wireless in the MEPIS tradition very well.

Nice to 'see' you here masinick.
Let us know if the resurrection went ok. _________________ Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

Let us know if the resurrection went ok. | I have not "raised the AMD" from the dead yet, but I have celebrated my Savior's resurrection!
Got a new system on order and will probably play with that before I go all the way back to the AMD 400. The Dell Dimension 4100 makes a good platform to use for "old hardware". It is still fast enough to use, but sure appreciates being "juiced" by lighter weight software that resembles the size and time frame in which the hardware was created. AntiX runs REAL well on the Dell Dimension 4100.
