To have netbook style application launchers on the desktop one can just 'apt-get install lxlauncher'. It's a very small package.
It uses Debian's menu system so the icons ain't very harmonious. One can change the icons by editing the menu files in /usr/share/menu or by placing the edited files in ~/.menu
One can put other custom menu files in ~/.menu too. Menu file syntax: http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-man ... l/ch3.html
(Installing lxde-icon-theme may help icon wise)
Attached is a litle video made in antiX11 live-CD.
To launch lxlauncher at session login, just put 'lxlauncher &' in the startup file for your window manager of choice (I don't know how well it works with fluxbox, though).

For roky, or whoever has Xandros, here's lxlauncher's README:
Quote:
LXLauncher is an open source clone of Asus launcher for EeePC.
It outperformes the original launcher developed by Xandros.

Background images used by Asus launcher are non-free and are
hence not included in this package.

Please put the images in /usr/share/lxlauncher/backround.
LXLauncher will use those background images if available.

Also, if you put the tab icons of Asus launcher under
/usr/share/lxlauncher/icons, they will be used in the tabs.
Otherwise, some icons from the gtk+ icon theme will be used instead.

One can also copy the contents of /etc/xdg/lxlauncher to ~/.config/lxauncher to customize in the user environment a few interface options like button size and some colours.
