I tried to instal VLC player using Synaptic but i get

Try in a terminal as root,
aptitude update
aptitude install vlc
Accept the first offer.

After executing the first command I get in the end:
PASS failed, server said: Sorry, the maximum number of allowed clients (10) are already connected.
So, probably I have to try it later again.
Nevertheless, the second command has installed VLC correctly (wow, great!) though it has again produced the error in the end:
