antiX-M7 goes final!

Code named "Lysistrata" it is my pleasure to offer you antiX-M7, a fast, light, fully functional and flexible distro for low-end boxes (not k5/k6), based on MEPIS7, running fluxbox window-manager by default and icewm as a choice.

Thanks for the link. I had checked several mirrors earlier today and none seemed to have it. I was thinking that ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/mepis/ was the "mirror master" but perhaps am mistaken.

Yanking it down right now and hope to load it this evening. I am assuming that it is different than rc-2 + apt-get dist-upgrade. (?)

I did have to chuckle when I loaded up "final" and found that apt-get had ten updates waiting for me.

Yes I got caught a bit short there as Warren had upgraded some Mepis stuff (kernel upgrade, alsa, nvidia) while I was uploading the 'finished' product.
I was in 2 minds as to whether to cancel the release and include the upgrades without any testing being done at all, in antiX nor in Mepis, but decided to go ahead.

On my box I did a dist-upgrade after install plus I installed the legacy nvidia drivers via Mepis/xconfig, rebooted and everything worked out a treat. It isn't necessary to do so, but it shouldn't cause problems by doing it either. Just make sure that the alsa-modules for the new kernel get installed as well.

Still, better than fluxbuntu eh and without the hype!!

By the way, thanks for changing the login screen for Live CD vs. Installed. Slick touch. I am slightly anal-retentive, I will admit, but it really bothered me to see a suggested login of "demo" when the os was running from the hard drive!
