Our default conky is nearly invisible on some background images. I added a simple program called conky-colors which changes the colors:
Usage: conky-colors [<theme>|cycle|random|toggle]
Change the colors in the ~/.conkyrc. Meta-themes:
cycle Cycle through all light or all dark themes
random Pick a theme at random
toggle Toggle between light themes and dark themes
The current themes are:
dark dark-red light-blue light-red
dark-blue darker-blue light-green white
dark-purple light light-grey
-f --file=<file> Makes change to <file> instead of .conkyrc
-h --help Show this help
-p --pretend Show changes but don't do anything
-q --quiet Only print error messages
The "toggle" and "cycle" parameters were intended to make it easy to include in the control center and control by two buttons. One to toggle between light and dark themes and the other to cycle within either light or dark for fine tuning.
1) I'm sure some/many of the color configurations could be greatly improved. The source code is in /usr/local/bin/conky-colors.
2) We could have conky-colors called when we set the theme to light or dark from the bootloader menu.
3) I don't think there is room in the current Control Centre desktop tab for two more buttons. I don't know how important it is to make the conky window legible.
