viewtopic.php?f=43&t=3206I described how I got this freebie. Since I last posted. I tore down the IBM Aptiva and low and Behold. I found a Seagate Barracuda 120gig drive in the old Aptiva. So spent the day tearing down and swapping parts out. I found that somebody had installed the pin jumper all wrong on the 120gig drive for starters.
Then saw that the hardrives I was pulling out of the emachine was a 8 gig and also another 2 gig IDE drive. Bet you that they were supposed to be in the Aptiva because of Windows ME being on the 8gig.
Long styory short. The Emachine now has a working 120gig drive. Bios sees it. Shows as 120gig in bios.
So off to the races with AntiX 11 base. I format the drive as 1gig of swap and the rest as ext4 /. I point the base installer to the drive and tell it to keep /home so it won't reformat.
When done. I shutdown. Pull the CD. Turn it on.

Insert Boot disk and press any key to continue.

So. I google. Tried all kinds of Bios settings and changes. Ya know what fixed it?
Booting up the live CD again. Deleting my Ext4 partition. leaving it deleted. Then ran the installer again and picked nooby install to entire drive option. That worked on a reboot. Go figure. Emachine is a funny creature any hows. At least I did not have to buy it.
Doing a Liqourix kernel and a dist-upgrade and will see if I can get ATI going (yeah that is the graphics chip). Posting now from Laptop while watch smxi do it's thing. Will repost from Desktop when done.
